Title: Jersey Gals: Koume Sawaguchi
Date: 9.25.2011

The Story:
Koume Sawaguchi of “Blue Seed” wearing the University of Miami Hurricanes jersey as requested by JaxsonJaguar

My Take:
I don’t know very much about this character, nor had I ever attempted a drawing of her, but JaxsonJaguar provided me with a few good references to work with, which helped tremendously.

Shortly after finding a little about this character, this pose came to mind. It wasn’t anything difficult or anything, but I thought it was something that worked for her. The sketch for this one went very smoothly; usually at that phase there are some things that I will need to go over a number of times, that wasn’t the case here. I actually spent the most time on her hair. I tried a couple of tricks that I used for the previous drawings and applied them here. They weren’t as effective here, but I’m still happy with the results.

This is the first time I’ve tried this jersey, or any other college team for that matter. There weren’t too many complicated designs or anything for this one, but I did reach a bit of a dilemma…I couldn’t really decide on which color I liked better for her. I decided to try something new here, and go with all three colors, and post the home orange here, while the others would be posted in my blog.

I’m still going with this same style of background that I’ve been using recently, following the design from some old basketball cards that I found laying around the apartment. I decided to add a larger copy of this image, as well as adding a few dynamics to the background to keep it from looking too plain.

What I Like Most:
This was one of the smoothest drawings I can remember. There weren’t many problems; I didn’t have to go over certain parts a thousand times for me to be satisfied with the sketch. Since I couldn’t decide which color jersey to use, this became the first one that I tried to do alternate versions for. I overlooked my favorite part of this one, her hair…which came out very well.

What I Dislike Most:
Mainly an oversight here, I forgot about the details for her left ear…may not be noticeable since most of it is covered by hair anyway. There’s not too much else to complain about here, all of my usual trouble spots came out well this time around.

Final Thoughts:
My sincere apologies for being so lazy, and taking this long.

Disclaimer:
I’ll never beat you over the head demanding comments, nor will I threaten to stop drawing if I don’t get any…that’s just not who I am. I believe that if you draw, or write only to get comments, faves, or whatever, then you’re doing it for all the wrong reasons. I still would like to know what you think…good, bad, or otherwise. I only ask that if you do comment, please do so on the drawing, and not the character in the drawing. I am aware that not everyone likes certain characters for their own reasons; I’m just not interested in knowing about that.
